Saanich is making strides in battling climate change – on paper at least.
On Monday, council supported the implementation of a new Climate Change Adaptation Plan, which differs from the previously implemented Climate Action Plan.
“(The Action Plan) is about reducing our current carbon emissions. The Adaptation Plan is about making changes to adapt to the current and coming climate changes,” sustainability co-ordinator Mark Boysen said.
The plan identifies 87 initiatives that should be addressed by Saanich, though financial and staffing support must be included to see results.
