Saanich Police received a report late Saturday night of a female driver that had intentionally collided with another vehicle in the 1500 block of Church Street, injuring the other driver.
Prior to police arrival at about 10:30 p.m., the driver of the mid-size hatchback fled the scene.
Victoria and Oak Bay Police received reports of seeing the same vehicle being driven dangerously and purposely striking other vehicles, including police cars. The driver failed to stop for numerous police vehicles during these instances.
Roughly one hour later, the vehicle re-appeared in Saanich. While police were attempting to stop the vehicle, the female driver crashed into a ditch where she then attempted to flee on foot.
Saanich Police officers, with the assistance of Saanich’s K-9 and Traffic units, were then able to arrest the woman. She had suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for precaution.
“With the amount of occupied vehicles hit by the female driver it is amazing that nobody suffered any major injuries during this situation,” said Const. Damian Kowalewich with Saanich Police.
A female Saanich resident in her 40s is facing numerous criminal charges including: six counts of hit and run, dangerous driving, cause police pursuit and two counts of assaulting a police officer.
