Safe Harbour closing time extended for Canada Day

Move to accommodate anticipated boat traffic on Okanagan Lake on July 1 to watch fireworks.

To accommodate anticipated boat traffic for those watching the Canada Day fireworks display on Okanagan Lake, the Regional District of Central Okanagan will keep the Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park open until midnight only on July 1.

Usually between May 1 and the end of September, the park gate is locked each night at 10  p.m.

Boaters returning later in the evening following the Canada Day fireworks should leave enough time to trailer their vessel and leave the park before the midnight gate closure.  In light of the extended late evening boat launch hours, we ask facility users to be respectful of neighbours who live near the park and boat launch.

The Regional District thanks everyone for their cooperation with this once a year, extended operation of the Okanagan Centre Safe Harbour Regional Park.

The park gate closing will return to the normal 10 p.m. time on Thursday, July 2.
