Salad dressing thrown on walls during Saanich break-in

The burglar stole a number of items and splashed the home’s wall with tangy orange dressing, taken from the fridge.

Catalina salad dressing was the weapon of choice for the person who broke in to a Saanich home Sunday. The burglar stole a number of items and splashed the home’s wall with tangy orange dressing, taken from the fridge.

Saanich police were called to the 1500-block of Kenmore Rd. around 2 a.m., Feb. 12, by a 22-year-old resident who’d returned home to find his front door kicked in.

An X-Box game system, shoes and some food were stolen.

A large hole was also punched in the drywall.

“It appears, in this particular case, these culprits spent some time in there to do some damage,” said Sgt. Dean Jantzen.

Additionally, officers who attended the scene conducted a routine check on the resident who called police and found he was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Victoria police.

Jantzen said the crime appears to be “teenager related,” and advises anyone who sees something posted on a social media website that could be connected to this incident to call police at 250-475-4321.
