The City of Salmon Arm’s annual financial reports may never be an Oprah’s Book Club pick, but they tend to be among the best of their kind in the country.

For the fourth year in a row, the city has been recognized for excellence in financial reporting with a Canadian Award for Financial Reporting.

The award, for the 2010 annual report, was recently presented by Mayor Nancy Cooper to city corporate services director Monica Dalziel, on behalf of the Government Finance Officer’s Association.

“I thank the finance department for all their hard work and let you know how much we  appreciate all that you do,” said Cooper.

The award recognizes the City of Salmon Arm for its financial accountability, stewardship responsibility, transparency and quality in financial reporting.

“This is the fourth year the city has received this award, and it’s a testament to both council direction, management of the operation and staff who do the work,” said Dalziel, who paid special thanks to financial services manager Betty Hiebert for the statistical work.
