Suspect male observed inside the store, carrying x-ray machine;

Saturn used as battering ram in X-Ray machine theft

A scientifically minded crook allegedly used a two-door Saturn to force entry into a local business and steal imore than $60,000 worth of medical technology.

The Kelowna RCMP were alerted to a report of a commercial alarm Feb. 6 at 5:03 a.m. with multiple glass break hits, at Premier Jewellery and Loans located at 1980 Bredin Road in Kelowna.

RCMP attended and discovered the business’ store front smashed in from an apparent vehicle. Evidence at the scene allowed investigators to determine the vehicle involved had been reportedly stolen.

“The suspect vehicle was located abandoned a short distance from the scene by police,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey. “The black Saturn has been seized by investigators to be examined for any forensic evidence.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, believed to be in his mid-20s, seen wearing a grey hooded sweater, a brown leather jacket, black pants and a black toque with red writing.

Property representatives have confirmed that a Thermo Scientific Niton DXL x-ray machine and an Olympus Gold Xpert x-ray machine, each valued at $30,000, were among the items taken by the thief.
