RCMP caught a Chilliwack man driving in an allegedly stolen vehicle and 25 year old Cameron Joseph Koutecky now faces a boatload of charges.A car was reported stolen from the 46000 block of Yale Road on Sept. 6.That afternoon, RCMP received a tip of a suspicious vehicle stopped at Quarry Road and Beaver Cresent. It was the stolen car and police moved quickly to make an arrest. As officers took Koutecky into custody they also allegedly found a lot of unexpected items, including a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, knives and evidence linking him to property crime.“The suspect was taken into custody, the stolen property was recovered and weapons dangerous to the safety of our community were taken off the street,” said RCMP Cpl. Mike Rail. “This is largely in part to an alert member of the public, who reported unusual behaviour to police.” Koutecky remains in custody pending a late-September court appearance.Police remind anyone who sees anything they believe to be suspicious contact the Chilliwack RCMP at 604-792-4611 or Crime Stoppers (anonymously) at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
