The board of directors for School District 20 have decided not to rename Twin Rivers Elementary School.

The board of directors for School District 20 have decided not to rename Twin Rivers Elementary School.

The decision was made at a school board meeting on Monday, April 11, where the board considered whether or not to rename Twin Rivers Elementary School and Castlegar Primary School as Twin Rivers Elementary School Columbia Campus and Twin Rivers Elementary School Kootenay Campus.

Teri Ferworn, chair of the board, said that ultimately it wasn’t what parents and students wanted, so the board voted against it.

“The [Twin Rivers Re-Naming] Committee recommended that the number one choice would be to leave it alone,” she said.
