School District 68 has just announced an update on teacher strike action.
Earlier today, the BC Teachers’ Federation confirmed that Stage Two of the strike action will begin next week.
As a result, teachers will be on-strike next Tuesday, May 27, in the Nanaimo-Ladysmith district.
“BCTF announces Stage two rotating strikes. One-day strike scheduled for our district Tuesday, May 27. Letter will be sent home with students Wednesday, May 21,” read an update on the SD68 website.
Stage One of the strike got underway back on April 23.
“During Stage One, teachers will be in classrooms providing instruction and will continue to write report cards, communicate with parents and may volunteer to carry out extracurricular activities.”
Closures will occur across various school districts on the Island from Monday, May 26 through Thursday, May 29.
All schools across British Columbia will be open as normal Friday, May 30, with no job action planned for that day.
