School District cross catchment deadline looms

Cross catchment application deadline coming up on Feb. 10.

The Campbell River School District is reminding parents and caregivers they need to apply by 4 p.m. Friday (Feb. 10) to be considered to have their children attend a school or program outside their neighbourhood catchment in September.

Applications are considered on a first-come, first-served basis, but only those applications received by Feb. 10 will be considered during the initial intake. Those applicants will be notified by March 31 of the status of their application.

Those who apply after Feb. 10 will be placed on a waitlist that will be reviewed and processed during the first week of school in September. Students will need to continue at their current school until they are informed otherwise.

The district says students must be registered at their neighbourhood catchment school before applying for cross-catchment application and reminds parents and caregivers that should the student be approved to attend a cross-catchment school, those parents or guardians will be responsible for providing transportation to and from the school to which they are applying, as well as to subsequent schools the child attends.

Once a cross-catchment application has been approved, the student can stay at that school and move to its subsequent feeder school without having to submit additional applications.

However, should they decide to return to their neighbourhood catchment school they must submit another cross-catchment application.

Applications can be found at www.sd72.bc.ca/schools/registrationandtransfers and returned by email to student.registration@sd72.bc.ca
