North Surrey Secondary was under lock down for over an hour Thursday afternoon as a precaution as Surrey RCMP responded to a weapons call in the area.
RCMP were responding to a gun call at a residence in the 9700-block of 160 Street after one person in the home reported seeing a person with a hand gun following a brief altercation inside the home.
When RCMP arrived the suspect had fled the scene and is still at large.
Police are aware who the suspect is and have forwarded charges to Crown and are waiting for the charges to be approved.
Seven residents at the home were detained at the scene but all have since been released without charge.
By 5 p.m. the students and staff at North Surrey secondary were allowed to leave the school.
