The start of the school year has been a power struggle for two Walnut Grove elementary schools.
On Wednesday morning, students at Dorothy Peacock found themselves learning in the dark after a car took out a power pole in the area.
The outage left numerous intersections in the area without traffic lights and more than 2,300 customers without power.
On the first day of school, it was Topham students whose school lost power for the afternoon.
Power went out to a large area of Walnut Grove from around noon until the end of the school day. It’s not known what caused the outage, said BC Hydro.
Besides the torrential downpour that hit right as kids were heading to school on Tuesday, and the power outages, everything went well the first couple of days, said Langley School District spokesperson Ken Hoff.
