A search is taking place this afternoon for a missing fisherman in the South Shuswap area.
Members of Shuswap Search and Rescue are out on the water and a helicopter has been called in to assist with an aerial search of the region near Eagle Bay.
Salmon Arm RCMP Sgt. Kevin Keane indicates the search began at 8 a.m. following reports of a beached boat near Eagle Bay on Shuswap Lake early Wednesday morning.
Police say the boat was in gear with the down riggers and fishing lines engaged.
They say they’ve identified the owner and are in contact with his family.
The missing fisherman’s name whose named has not been released.
