Revelstoke and Nakusp RCMP and two search and rescue agencies are searching for a missing elderly woman, focusing their efforts on the Highway 23 corridor between the two communities. The search commenced on Friday, Nov. 4, but it is believed the woman’s disappearance went undetected for 11 days.
Kay Mansour, 83, left Nakusp for a medical appointment in Revelstoke on Oct. 24, but never made it to that appointment.
Nakusp RCMP say she was believed to be staying with friends in Revelstoke for the past 11 days, but when she didn’t get in contact with family back in Nakusp, it was discovered she wasn’t staying with those friends in Revelstoke.
She was last spotted on Oct. 24 sitting in her car at the side of Highway 23 just north of the Shelter Bay ferry landing.
RCMP and members of both the Nakusp-based Arrow Lakes Search & Rescue and Revelstoke Search & Rescue are currently searching the Highway 23 corridor between the two communities.
Mansour was driving a light-blue 1993 Plymouth Colt hatchback with B.C. licence plate number SJA 067.
Mansour, pictured above, is 83, 5’6″ tall, is about 200 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Anyone who might have seen Kay Mansour or her vehicle, are asked to immediately contact the RCMP in Nakusp at 250-265-3677 or RCMP Revelstoke at 250-837-5255.
A media alert was issued at 10 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 4 and an RCMP operator confirmed at 9:15 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5 that the search is ongoing.
Nakusp and Revelstoke RCMP weren’t immediately available for comment.
