Second mushroom picker reported to be deceased

First mushroom picker was found alive east of Terrace, BC today

REPORTS indicate that one of two mushroom pickers missing east of Terrace since Sept. 22 has passed away.

The mother of one of the missing men, Michael Devlin Sabo, 32, said that Sabo passed away in the arms of Ike Murray, 26, who was found alive earlier today.

“Devlin died in Ike’s arms. Please don’t send flowers, please don’t call. Thank you to all for everything,” reads his mother Carol Sabo’s post in a social media group aimed at finding the two men.

Murray was found by CN Rail employees alongside the train tracks in the Cedarvale area at 4 p.m. today, Oct. 7. He was taken to Mills Memorial Hospital in Terrace and is in stable condition and with family.

Cedarvale is east of the Lorne Creek area on the north side of the Skeena River where Sabo and Murray were first reported missing after failing to make a rendezvous the afternoon of Sept. 22.

A first release from RCMP this afternoon indicated Terrace Search and Rescue members and Terrace RCMP had resumed an official search for Sabo.

It was being conducted under the umbrella of the provincial Emergency Management BC agency.

The first official search, which began the morning of Sept. 23 and which lasted until Sept. 29, was one of the largest searches in the region in several decades.

Volunteers continued looking for both men after the official search ended.
