Sedan smashed in highway accident near Cedar turnoff

Nanaimo first responders were at car crash Saturday afternoon

Traffic was slowed south of Nanaimo after a single vehicle crash on the highway this afternoon.

Nanaimo RCMP and Fire Rescue were called out to the scene in the northbound lane near Cedar Road at 2:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15.

A four-door Honda sedan with damage to its front bumper was towed away from the scene and there appeared to be damage to a number of cement block road medians. Traffic going north was affected with cars lining up and there was minimal impact to traffic headed south.

Brad Wood, Nanaimo Fire Rescue assistant chief, said there weren’t any serious injuries and the driver was treated by B.C. Ambulance Service on scene.

Wood said the cause of the crash is not known.
