Braeside crash

A vehicle was retained for investigation after losing control on Highway 27 on Aug. 28.

At 11:45 a.m., the southbound car rolled off the highway at two kilometres north of Braeside Road, leaving behind drug-related paraphernalia along its path.

The driver said she was avoiding deer when the incident happened. She was taken to the hospital for a broken arm injury.

Acquiring judicial authorization, the RCMP seized the vehicle and is continuing the investigation.

Finders not keepers

A wallet with $40 of cash found by the Silvermill Apartments was turned into the police on Sept. 1.

It has since been returned to its owner.

 

Motor theft

A four-stroke Johnson boat motor with 25 horse-power was stolen from a residence on Poplar Avenue overnight on Aug. 31. The motor is estimated to worth $3,500.

Back to school

Sept. 6 marks the first day of school for students as well as drivers. The police reminds drivers that school zones are back into effect, limiting vehicle speed to 30 kilometres per hour when travelling by schools.
