Kootenay Employment Services (KES) is proud to announce that September has once again been proclaimed Creston’s Disability Employment Awareness Month by Mayor Ron Toyota. Creston is celebrating it’s 5th annual Disability Employment Month.

Hiring employees with disabilities isn’t just about doing the right thing socially, it makes business sense as well. When effectively placed in positions that align with their interests and strengths, individuals with disabilities can truly excel, often exceeding employer expectations.

Throughout this past spring and summer, KES has assisted 46 individuals with disabilities to find employment within the Creston community. These positions have provided more than just an opportunity for meaningful employment, they have supported greater independence and fuller community engagement for these valuable community members.

In celebration of the significant contribution employees with disabilities bring to organizations, KES is inviting the Creston community to join them on Thursday, September 13th at the Canyon St. Walkthrough Park from 11:00-2:00 pm for an afternoon of celebration. This public celebration will include cake and refreshments, live music, and merchandise created and sold by individuals with disabilities.

Making a hiring decision should always come down to selecting the best person for the job. KES invites employers to contact us about how we can help them identify opportunities within their organization to support employees with disabilities, and join us in making Creston among the most inclusive employment communities in British Columbia. For more information about Customized Employment please contact KES at 250-428-5655.
