Golden Fire Department
Last week, the Golden Fire Department’s first call was out responding to a rolled over tractor trailer near Rogers Pass. Unfortunately, the vehicle had been attended to the night before, and was clearly marked. Callers are urged to stop and provide as much information as safely possible when reporting an incident to 911.
Members responded to a significant motor vehicle incident on Highway 1 west of Golden on Saturday morning involving four vehicles and 14 patients. All patients were transported to Golden and District Hospital for treatment. This was a major event that local emergency agencies handled very effectively.
Shortly after midnight on August 26, fire crews responded to a local residence for a report of fire. Investigation found no sign of fire and crews left the scene.
Sunday evening was busy for Golden Fire Rescue. That evening, they responded to a rolled over vehicle crash near Parson. Members assisted ambulance crews with patient treatment and follow up. A medical call followed, then a response to a possible crash near Rogers Pass on Highway 1.
On Monday August 27, crews assisted BC Ambulance in attending to and transporting an injured cyclist from the trials in the Reflection Lake area.
Conservation Officers Service
A number of enforcement actions were issued to anglers fishing without licences, and for using prohibited gear.
A calf elk was euthanized after being struck by a train. Fortunately, rail staff reported the incident as soon as the incident occurred and officers were able to respond immediately.
A number of campfires were reported, however all turned out to be propane fires, which are not prohibited.
