Golden-Field RCMP
On July 30, the Golden-Field RCMP was advised that search and rescue was required for an overdue hiker.
Police notified Golden & District Search and Rescue (GADSAR) who worked on locating the male, before being notified that the male made contact with friends and was not in need of emergency assistance. GADSAR was updated and stood down.
“This is an excellent outcome,” says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. “We would like to thank GADSAR for their efforts on this file and remind those travelling in the backcountry to be prepared should they need to stay overnight or call for help.”
On August 2, the Golden-Field RCMP along with RCMP Traffic Services responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 west of Field.
One female, believed to be from Kelowna, was reported deceased.
At this time police can confirm that one female is deceased. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision along with the BC Coroner’s Service. No further information is available at this time.
On August 3, the Golden-Field RCMP and RCMP Traffic Services responded to a multiple-vehicle collision on Highway 1 west of Field.
At this time police can confirm that one female, believed to be from Chestermere, AB, is deceased.
One person was seriously injured and was transported by Air Ambulance to a hospital in Calgary.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision along with the BC Coroner’s Service.
Conservation Officers Services
Conservation officers responded to a number of wildlife conflict and resource related complaints during the past week.
During evening patrols, officers stopped an impaired driver and issued a 24-hour driving prohibition.
In a separate incident, a driver was charged for having open liquor in his vehicle.
In four separate incidents, six individuals were charged for having a campfire during the fire ban. Anyone found to be using a fire during the restriction may be issued a violation ticket with a specified penalty of $1,150.00.
Golden Fire Department
The Golden Fire Department had a quiet week, only responding to two incidents. A smoke complaint was called in on Friday night in town. On the August 6 morning, there was a report of a rollover motor vehicle incident. There were no trapped occupants in the vehicle, and the Golden Fire Department were stood down before attending.
