Serwa pays it forward to next geneation of ski racers

Olympic medalist Kelsey Serwa of Kelowna to host Fast and Female Champ Chat with Big White ski racers.

Fast and Female, a Canadian non‐profit organization dedicated to supporting and empowering the next generation of female athletes and leaders, will partner with Big White ski racers between the ages of 8 and 19 for a morning of inspiration and empowerment on Saturday, 8 :30 a.m.to noon.

The Fast and Female Champ Chat will be hosted at the Big White Ski Resort.

Serwa, who won silver at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi and is the reigning FIS World and WinterXGames Champion, will spend the morning with the girls, leading both on snow and off snowactivities.

“Coming from a community that has offered endless support throughout my skiing career, I feel privileged to have the opportunity to pay it forwards to the next generation of rippers with help from Fast and Female,” said Serwa, who grew up in Kelowna.

“I am very excited to take part in empowering these girls today, encouraging them to pursue their dreams of tomorrow and beyond.”

Fast and Female was founded in 2006 by Olympic gold medalist in cross country skiing, Chandra Crawford. The organization’s mission is to inspire and empower girls to stay in sports. It is believed that girls are six times more likely to drop out of sports than boys by the time they reach 14 years old.

Each year, Fast and Female inspires more than 2,200 female youth, parents and coaches through its NorthAmerica-­‐wide events.Theorganization also delivers useful educational content  through its website andsocial media platforms. For more information, visit: fastandfemale.com.
