A shift in management has had financial implications for North Okanagan taxpayers.
A freedom of information request from The Morning Star shows the Regional District of North Okanagan paid $116,711 in compensation in lieu of notice when Trafford Hall’s role as administrator ended April 10.
The severance is before statutory deductions, and Hall also received a used iPhone and a laptop computer.
“I am bound by arrangements with the regional district not to comment,” said Hall when contacted about his severance.
“It is a fair and reasonable settlement but I can’t comment further.”
Hall, who had worked for the District of Kitimat for 17 years, began as RDNO administrator in May 2011.
The FOI documents also indicate that Hall incurred $44,091 in expenses between his 2011 start and his departure. The expenses were related directly to his duties as administrator for RDNO.
In 2012, the last period for which information is available, Hall had a salary of $156,852 and expenses of $11,362.
RDNO is currently looking for a new administrator and Rob Smailes, general manager of planning and building, is serving as acting administrator.
