Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing torrential rain.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire Okanagan, including Vernon.

Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing strong wind gusts, up to penny size hail and heavy rain.

Tonight is expected to be cloudy with 60 per cent chance of showers this evening and risk of a thunderstorm.

Environment Canada warns that fast moving water across a road can sweep a vehicle away. Rapidly rising rivers and creeks can sweep away bridges, culverts, buildings, and people. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors.Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required. Please monitor local media or Weatheradio. To report severe weather, send an email to pacificstorm@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #BCStorm.
