Shames Mountain is in need of a new and improved snow machine for upcoming winter seasons.
The cost for a new Snowcat is approximately $300,000 and currently CityWest is matching donations up to $5,000. This week, the Prince Rupert store Loaded Sports threw in $1,000 into the Snowcat fund.
“This past year we’ve really started to raise funds for a new Snowcat, which is a really important piece of equipment for our mountain. It makes sure that we can open up our mountain every year,” said Meredith Skimson, chair and director of My Mountain Co-op.
“Our current Snowcat is aging and we are looking for help from our community, from our members and from our skiing friends to help donate money to our Snowcat.”
My Mountain Co-op is Canada’s first non-profit community service co-operative and it is responsible for operating Shames Mountain.
