Two goals each from Jarrett Medhurst and Andrew Schwab, and 26 solid saves from now three-time champion goalie Chad Pieper, led the Armstrong Shamrocks to an 8-4 win over the Kelowna Raiders in the third and deciding game of the Thompson Okanagan Senior Lacrosse League’s Shaw Cup playoff championship Saturday at Armstrong’s Nor-Val Sports Centre.
A loud, near-capacity crowd watched the Shamrocks win their first Shaw Cup title in 12 years.
Armstrong, which forced the deciding game with a come-from-behind 9-7 win over the Raiders Friday in Kelowna, led 3-1 and 7-2 by periods Saturday.
The score would have been higher if not for the outstanding play of veteran Kelowna goalie Graham Cousins, who made 56 saves in a losing effort.
