Vanderhoof’s first newborn of 2020 is a girl and the family couldn’t be happier.
Haven Sagalon was born on Jan. 6 at 2:30 pm in St. John Hospital in Vanderhoof. She is welcomed into the world by her mother and father, Gene Sagalon and Jonathen O’Connal. She has two brothers, Michael Jacob Reichelt and Diego Rivers Christian.
“She is our miracle child,” says O’Connal.
Haven’s mother, Gene, was diagnosed with Endometriosis when she was 16-years-old. According to the Public Health Agency of Canada, Endometriosis is one of the leading causes of infertility in women.
Haven weighs 8 pounds 6 ounces, and is 48 cms in height.
Northern Health’s New Year’s baby was also a girl, Aubrey Nellis, who was born at University Hospital of Northern BC in Prince George at 12:21 a.m. on Jan. 1, to Tiffany and Clayton Nellis of Prince George.
The first baby born in British Columbia in 2020 was delivered at Fraser Health’s Royal Columbian Hospital, at 12:01 a.m.
