A drug-related explosion has sent one man to hospital.

In the early morning of Friday, July 15 Mission RCMP responded to a report of an explosion of a utility shed in the 33000 block of Bracken Ave. in Mission.

The man, who was in the shed at the time of the explosion, was transported to hospital after receiving non-life threatening burns to a significant portion of his body.

Witnesses reported that prior to police attendance, that two unknown males fled the scene in a silver pick-up.

The property was secured for further investigation as a supporting marijuana grow operation was located inside the main residence.

Due to the unpredictable nature of the chemicals used in an extraction lab, police utilized the Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team for investigation and clean up.

Mission RCMP are warning that this type of activity can end in tragedy to those participating in similar behaviour. This matter is still under criminal investigation.
