Shed on fire along Highway 33 in Kelowna

Fire crews responded to the blaze at about 2 p.m. Sunday

Fire crews responded to a building fire at the Scukas property off Highway 33 in Rutland at about 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 8.

High flames and columns of smoke could be seen from the highway as people pulled over on to the shoulder to watch in concern.

The Kelowna Fire Department was able to arrive and quickly knock down the fire with the help of four engines, a rescue unit, a water tender, and a command vehicle with 18 personnel.

According to the Kelowna Fire Department, the fire is not deemed suspicious and was most likely electrical in nature. The owners of the building were also home at the time.
