It was a case of deja vu for Vernon firefighters.
Crews were called to a burning shed in the 3000 block of 41st Avenue Saturday at about 3:35 a.m. They had also been there in July to extinguish a blaze.
And that’s not the only similarity.
“It’s a suspicious fire,” said Lawrie Skolrood, a deputy fire chief, adding that there was the same determination during the summer.
“Someone running around with that intent is not that comforting.”
A suspect was never located in July and people sleeping inside the shed were able to escape without injury.
There were no occupants inside during Saturday’s blaze, but a nearby vehicle was destroyed by intense heat.
There was also a concern that the flames may spread so the Sandman Inn’s south wing was evacuated as a precautionary measure.
The case has been turned over to the RCMP, and Skolrood doesn’t expect firefighters will be called back a third time.
“Hopefully the problem is gone because the structure is pretty much gone,” he said.
