Police investigating gunfire that riddled a White Rock car with bullet holes Saturday said today that they still don’t who is responsible or what the motive was.
“We’re trying to figure out exactly what happened and why someone would do that,” Const. Shaileshni Molison told Peace Arch News.
As of Wednesday afternoon, the grey, shot-up Mazda Protegé remains in the 15300-block of Columbia Avenue, where police responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.
Molison said investigation of the vehicle – which bears a well-expired insurance decal, as well as investigators’ markings – is complete, but despite an appeal for information, no tips have come in.
The incident is not believed to be targeted or gang-related, she said, noting the vehicle was not stolen, and its registered owner has been identified.
“It seems quite random right now,” Molison said.
Following complaints of the vehicle’s “bothersome” state, the owner has been asked to move the car away from the roadside, Molison said.
