Sick kids’ charity may be a scam: police

A man going door-to-door asking for money for sick children may be a scam, warn the Chilliwack RCMP.

A man going door-to-door asking for money for sick children may be a scam, warn the Chilliwack RCMP.

Police have received two reports in two days of the suspicious male, both in the late morning between 11 a.m. and noon. One incident occurred in the MacIntosh Drive area, and the other on Williams Street.

The male was described as being in his 40s, with medium-length brown hair. He may also have missing teeth, and at the time of the incidents was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and a red toque.

Police are reminding the public to ask for identification from anyone soliciting money for charity.

Anyone approached by the male in this case is asked to call police immediately so officers can attend and attempt to identify him.
