Simon Gibson has been acclaimed as the 2017 BC Liberal candidate in Abbotsford-Mission.
Gibson was first elected to provincial politics in May 2013 after serving 30 years as a councillor in Abbotsford.
He currently serves on the treasury board, public accounts and finance, and government services committees.
Last year, Premier Christy Clark appointed Gibson the parliamentary secretary for independent schools. While in the riding, he spends much of his time meeting with constituents in the office on First Avenue in Mission.
“Issues such as flood protection, education, and highway improvements will continue to be important to our area, and I am committed to fighting for them,” Gibson said.
He said he will also continue to advocate for strong economic growth, well-paying jobs, improved health care, and developing strategies for housing affordability.
“Together we have accomplished a lot, but we still have more work to do,” he said. “I look forward in the coming months to working with our residents on their priorities as I prepare to fight again for the interests of Abbotsford and Mission in Victoria.”
The next provincial general election takes place May 9, 2017.
