A sink hole has shut down the primary route through Vernon.
Officials became aware of the sink hole at 25th Avenue and 32nd Street (Highway 97) late Tuesday afternoon.
“Highways crews are on site and will be starting work to determine the cause,” said James Rice, the City of Vernon’s public works manager.
The highway is closed at the intersection next to Polson Park and northbound and southbound traffic is being rerouted.
The estimated time of opening is currently unavailable.
More to come.
