The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen will submit an application to the provincial government for a license of occupation for the development of the Apex community firehall.
In March, a referendum passed to establish a tax-funded fire and rescue service at Apex Mountain Resort. To create the firehall, a site must be procured and developed, and the equipment must be purchased.

A bylaw passed by the regional district board authorizes the borrowing of up to $3 million over 25 years for this project.
A site at Apex has been identified for the new firehall. The development of the firehall will be funded through the Apex Mountain Fire Protection Service Area.
The land for the site is around 0.765 hectares and is located off Apex Mountain Road.
The process to formalize the tenure on the property is expected to take four to six months. Once the tenure for the project is secured, the formal design phase and site development may begin. This is expected to start in the second quarter of 2022.
