Six people were displaced by a fire in a rental house at 1914 Latimer Rd. on the weekend.
Nanaimo Fire Rescue responded shortly before 10 p.m. to snuff out a fire that worked its way into a floor space between the building’s main floor and a basement suite.
Damage to electrical wiring meant power to the house had to be disconnected, displacing a family of five living upstairs and one tenant downstairs, said Capt. Ennis Mond, Nanaimo Fire Rescue chief fire prevention officer.
No one was injured and all tenants were insured and have found other accommodations.
The fire’s cause is under investigation.
