Six people arrested in Gorge Road drug bust

Joint investigation involved Saanich police, VicPD, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and the Regional Crime Unit

Six people were arrested in a drug raid in the 100-block of Gorge Rd. on Sunday in a joint investigation involving Saanich police, VicPD, the Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit and the Regional Crime Unit.

Police seized a .22-calibre semi-automatic rifle, two replica handguns, bear spray, 26 litres of GHB and precursor, crystal meth, heroin and about $20,000 in cash from the apartment and during a subsequent search of a vehicle.

Also in the apartment were record-keeping books to track drug sales, said Sgt. Steve Eassie.

“We’re hopeful there will be a noticeable decrease in the number of people using or under the influence in the Gorge area,” Eassie said.

A 41-year-old Saanich woman is facing charges related to drugs, weapons and stolen credit card information; a 36-year-old Saanich man is facing drug charges.

Another four people were arrested including a 35-year-old Saanich woman, who may face drug charges; a 22-year-old Sooke man; a 29-year-old Vancouver man, arrested on outstanding warrants and connected to criminal organizations; and a 31-year-old Vancouver woman, later released from custody.
