A small brush fire broke out in the hedges beside the Coast Hotel on Sumas Way on Thursday (July 25). At approximately 2:30 p.m. Abbotsford Fire Rescue Service was called out to the fire. Upon arrival they found four shrubs burning.
Crews quickly extinguished the blaze. Fire fighters at the scene praised a passerby who kept the fire in check by using a fire extinguisher, before crews arrived.
No cause has yet been determined.
