Smithers man arrested for spray painting business

RCMP are recommending a charge of mischief under $5,000 and two breaches of conditions from a previous incident.

A 26-year-old Smithers man was arrested by RCMP Tuesday night after he was observed spray painting the outside of a business on 11th Ave.

When police arrived on the scene, the male fled on foot, jumping a chainlink fence and hiding in nearby bushes. A resident saw the man run into the bushes and directed the RCMP where to go. The male was then approached and arrested without incident.

The man is well known to police and was released on a Promise to Appear with a June 4 court date.

The Smithers RCMP have received no other reports of graffiti or vandalism at this time.
