Public consultation meeting on the future of Canadian democracy are beginning this week in the riding of Skeena-Bulkley Valley.
MP Nathan Cullen, who is on the committee working on changing how votes are counted, is hosting an electoral reform town hall this Friday at 7 p.m. in Smithers’ Old Church.
For those in the Bukley Valley who will not be able to attend, online consultation will be available on Cullen’s website at nathancullen.ca.
There will also be a telephone town hall on Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. Details on that will be announced soon.
Consultations are happening across Canada as the Liberal government aims to fulfill its election election promise that last fall’s federal election will be the last using the first-past-the-post system.
Cullen said he is also looking at hosting a town hall in Prince George if its Conservative MPs there do not.
