The July Mountain fire remains out of control 10 days after it was discovered south of Merritt.

B.C. Wildfire Service states the wildfire is estimated to have grown larger than 760 hectares in size, but limited visibility due to smoke has made accurate mapping difficult. There are currently 19 firefighters, three helicopters and two heavy equipment units working on this fire. B.C. Wildfire Service has seven personnel members on the ground, one in a helicopter and 14 contract personnel assisting.

The Thompson-Nicola Regional District has issued an evacuation alert for 25 properties in Electoral Area N. For more information about the evacuation alert, contact the TNRD at 250-377-7188.
