The long-awaited upgrade to the Terrace and District Aquatic Centre (TDAC) is in the final stages of construction and scheduled to reopen by mid-July.
The city says despite delays the $8.2 million revitalization project is on budget. Construction of the parking lot is slated for completion by the end of June.
Additions to the centre include a deeper main pool, a lazy river and a hot tub. Accessibility ramps and colourful lighting have also been installed in all pools. A 2,000-square-foot fitness centre and new family change room were also constructed.

Prior to opening, mechanical testing of the equipment and commission of the pool will take place over the coming weeks, in addition to staff training and an overall safety review of the upgraded centre.
The City of Terrace has hired 18 staff for the centre’s operation. The Leisure Services Department will hire a few more permanent full-time and part-time positions likely toward the end of July.
