The slow start of winter this year has caused the postponement of the Fire on Ice snowmobile races.
“We were really dependent on the weather,” said Miguel Romero, manager of the Chamber of Commerce, which was hosting the event.
The lack of snow and ice on the lake caused the Chamber of Commerce to look elsewhere for an area where the event could be hosted, but were unable to find anything in time.
“Due to the weather conditions and not being able to find a proper venue, we had to cancel,” said Romero.
Don’t count it out yet though.
“We’re seeing what happens in March; playing it by ear,” said Romero.
The skating tournament is still happening that weekend, so those who were torn between the two events can hopefully now attend both.
