The skies darkened and the temperature dropped during Monday’s solar eclipse in Chilliwack.
And one group, the Devenish/Ford family — visiting from Victoria, Thailand, Vancouver and Kelowna — gathered at Cultus Lake Main Beach to view it. They brought with them a large, cardboard box with a small hole punched in the centre to safely watch the eclipse.
The solar eclipse was at its fullest around 10:22 a.m., where approximately 86 per cent of the sun was covered by the moon here in Chilliwack.
The Devenish/Ford family flocked around a piece of cardboard, for more than half an hour, on which the eclipse was projected (see photo below).
The family also made other apertures using their hands and hair to see the eclipse projected on the ground.
