A special council meeting to vote on the proposed redevelopment of the Oak Bay Lodge happens tonight.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Monterey Recreation Centre, 1442 Monterey Ave. There will be no meeting held tonight in council’s chambers.

The meeting was meant to be held Nov. 14, but problems with the sound system in Oak Bay council chambers forced the vote to be postponed.

The proposed redevelopment of the seniors care facility has been a hotly contested issue among Oak Bay residents, council and the developer, Baptist Housing. Several neighbours near the site say the project is too big, while other residents say Oak Bay needs more beds to care for seniors.

We’ll have updates on the meeting later this week in the Oak Bay News and online at oakbaynews.com.
