Spectators pack into downtown Penticton for annual celebration

Did you miss the Peach Festival Peters Bros. Grade Parade? Don't worry, we've got you covered.



Downtown streets were packed on Saturday morning for the Peters Bros. Grand Parade, one of the highlights of the Peach Festival.

A total of 74 entries from as far away as Seattle made the trip down Main Street to the finish line at the SS Sicamous. Floats were judged beforehand. The winners were:

President’s choice: Royalty from Cashmere, Wash.

Best community float, population over 25,000: 1st – Wenatchee, Wash.; 2nd – Vernon, B.C.

Best community float, population under 25,000: 1st- Chewelah, Wash.; 2nd Deer Park, Wash.

Best commercial float: The Hamlets at Penticton

Best non-commercial float: Penticton Eagles

Best novelty entry: Alley Cats Cyclery Consortium

The Kiddies Day Parade, sponsored by the Downtown Penticton Association, goes Sunday. It begins at 11:30 in the City Centre parking lot and ends at the Centennial Plaza at Okanagan Lake Park.

Entertainment continues throughout the weekend. The festival wraps up Sunday with a 9 p.m. performance by Killarney.
