Speeding motorist stuns seasoned police officers

Driver stopped after tearing through school zone

A woman caught whipping through a school zone at Quadra Elementary on Tuesday shocked Victoria traffic officers.

The 43-year-old driver was clocked going more than 80 kilometres an hour – more than double the 30 km/hr limit – in the 1000-block of Finlayson St. while school was in, just before 2 p.m.

“I have never seen speed that high in a school zone before,” said traffic officer, Sgt. Glen Shiels. “When the officers initiated the stop, she was still accelerating.”

The driver was slapped with a $368 ticket, and her Mazda sedan was towed.
