Many Chilliwack residents have household odds and ends that need to be hauled away to the dump, but for a variety of reasons they can’t do it on their own.
Some fine folks calling themselves the “St. Paul’s Dump Runners” might just be able to help for the sake of their fundraiser Feb. 27 to March 2.
“We have volunteers from St. Paul’s Lutheran church willing to pick up curbside your old junk and take it to the dump for the cost of dumping and a small donation to the Nicaragua Feed the Children Fund,” said Becky Miller.
That’s how organizer Miller put the word out on Facebook, and spots are beginning to fill up.
It’s minimum $20 donation, and $5 for dump fees.
Why did her church decide it was important to help children in Nicaragua?
“Because St. Paul’s seeks a balance of local and international causes,” Miller said.
Plus a lot of the international relief work that was going strong the world over has been scaled back since the global pandemic.
Miller dreamed up this funder, and several volunteers, her husband Colton Watkins, and dad Gord Davis will be doing most of the heavy lifting.
They just added two additional pickup days to the initial two this weekend. They’ll be picking up small appliances, old furniture, and other odds and ends.
They can do runs Feb. 27, Feb. 28, March 1 and March 2, at certain times of day.
On Saturday, Feb. 27, they will be beginning at 7:30 a.m., and Sunday, February 28, beginning at 11:30 a.m., and they just added Monday, March 1 and Tuesday, March 2.
To arrange pick up or get more info call Becky Miller at 604-703-5765. They are planning to schedule more dumps runs in April and September of this year.
