A man is in serious condition after a stabbing Wednesday afternoon.

First responders rushed to the park just before 6 p.m. where there were reports of a 23-year-old man stabbed two times in the abdomen.

Two paramedic crews were dispatched to Alouette Lake in Golden Ears Provincial Park, confirmed Sarah Morris, a spokesperson with BC Emergency Health Services.

“One patient was cared for and transported to hospital in serious condition,” she said.

An air ambulance was initially requested and a landing zone was set up in the back field at Yennadon Elementary School.

However, no helicopter was available and Maple Ridge fire crews were told to stand down.

The suspect was last seen heading south along Golden Ears Parkway.

It is not known what caused the altercation of the individuals were known to one another.
