The City of Salmon Arm is looking for a new corporate officer.
Corey Paiement, who has filled the position for a year, is heading off to Spallumcheen to take on a new challenge.
His last day in the city’s employ will be Feb. 21. For his first six months at the Township of Spallumcheen he will be the deputy chief administrative officer and will transition into the chief administrative officer position.
“It’s an opportunity to advance my career without having to move my family.”
Paiement has been with the city a little more than eight years. Prior to being named corporate officer, he was the director of development services.
“I’m kind of sad to go, it’s a big decision. Not that I was looking to leave per se, so I applied and followed through with the process. It seemed like a good fit for what I have to offer and where they are and where they’re moving into the future.”
Carl Bannister, chief administrative officer, said he’s very sorry to see him go.
“He’s been a great employee here at the city; he was the director of development services and I think provided vision and leadership in that role and, more recently as the corporate officer, played a major role in the city’s strategic plan, as well as freedom of information, insurance, risk management, bylaw creation, leases and agreements, council agendas, all of those things. I’m sad to see him go, but wish him all the success in the world.”
In Spallumcheen, Mayor Janice Brown said council is pleased Paiement will be joining them.
“Council is looking forward to working with Corey to continue many of the initiatives begun during the past year,” she said.
“We are confident Corey’s experience and background will serve him well in the future, as he provides sound leadership for council and staff and works to further the community’s interests.”
