Armstrong centennial preserved with commemorative stamps

Armstrong’s centennial has officially been stamped.

Kelowna stamp collector and designer Pete Lepold has arranged with the city and Canada Post to print two special commemorative stamps which honours the anniversary.

“I always look for certain topics and what I can do,” said Lepold, who has been collecting and designing stamps for 10 years.

“Six or seven weeks ago, I was visiting some friends in Armstrong and read in the paper about the centennial. I thought maybe that was a good idea for a stamp.”

The stamps were printed under Canada Post’s Picture Postage Program.

The pair of stamps are a limited issue and are not available at the local post office.

The first stamp, created with the co-operation of the city, displays Armstrong’s centennial logo.

That stamp can be purchased at city hall. And, aside from the stamp, a special keepsake picture with a stamp is also available.

The second stamp displays Armstrong’s post office building. That stamp is available through Lepold.
